Redbud hand towels
Red Bud Isle is a small peninsula on the Colorado River in Austin, Texas, where Eastern redbuds line the trail to the water's edge every March. This palette came from growing up waiting for the deep magenta and light pink blossoms to tell us it was spring in Austin. Turns out you can find those same colors saying its spring here in Durham too, poking through the dark green conifers and interleaving with the new buds of new trees.
Woven in blocks of five colors of Gist Beam 8/2 yarn: Avocado, Jam, Evergreen, Elderberry, and Sage. The colors shift depending on which threads are crossing, some intersections read warm, others cool, the way the light moves through a canopy in early spring.
Finished and hemmed, don't need to be hand washed so you'll actually use them.
Each one of a kind textile ships with a small print of the landscape that inspired it. If this piece is sold out, a similar one can be made to order. Email touchgrasstextiles@gmail.com
