About the box

Field Study is our seasonal weaving box, and Tomato Love is the first edition. This bright summer box is inspired by North Carolina's vibrant tomato season and in the spirit of the Tomato Day celebration at the Durham Farmers’ Market.

You get five colors of Kelbourne Woolens Perennial prewound onto custom bobbins, a frame that holds all four of your mini artworks, and 5x 12-dent Swatch Looms (who can say no to a lil extra?).

How it works

Weaving these sits somewhere between embroidery, cross-stitch, and simple colorwork. If you've done any of those, your hands already know how to do this, even if you've never woven anyting before.

For these patterns, you’ll always weave a plain weave ground (warp, then weft) and then add in an overshot-style tomato-themed pattern. The plain weave ground is great for meditative flow, and the pattern is where you can let your freak flag fly.

Printed, wound, and packed by us in Durham. Best enjoyed on a roadtrip, by the pool, or on a shady patio with friends.

for curious crafters

If you knit, crochet, or cross-stitch and have wanted to try weaving, start here. Field Study is a great intro to weaving concepts, with the setup headaches removed and no living room sized loom required. You'll finish four mini woven art pieces, not a practice scrap that dies in a drawer.

for experienced weavers

Think of Field Study as a palette cleanser. Small looms you can warp up in less than 5 min and weave on the couch, in the passenger seat, or poolside, with the draft already set and the only decision left is what colors to use. Mo loom math, winding, or threading, just instant-gratification fiber fun.
